Coldwater root canal

If you have a tooth that is very sensitive or painful when you are eating something hot or cold, it may be that you have a tooth that is infected or damaged in the center. When this occurs, you will need to have root canal therapy to save the life of the tooth. Unfortunately, if an infected tooth is not treated, it will eventually fall out or need to be extracted to keep infection from spreading to other parts of your mouth, or even to other parts of your body. Additionally, infected teeth can be extremely painful. So we strongly suggest that when you suffer with this type of tooth pain, that you make an appointment to come in and see one of our fine dentist for a complete exam, and possibly for a Coldwater root canal treatment.

When you come into our dental practice, Brady, Grife & Koyl, our dentist will first want to evaluate your tooth pain situation and make sure what the cause of the pain problem is. He will then recommend the best course of action to take, and confirm whether or not you do indeed need root canal therapy. Our three expert dentists are Dr. Scott K. Brady, Dr. David R. Grife, and Dr. Jonathan A. Koyl. Once our dentist has had a chance to examine your tooth, he will also be able to let you know if a root canal procedure is indicated, as well as the chances of the root canal treatment being successful. Root canal treatment is effective in about 90% of cases. There are times when a root canal does not succeed at which time an endodontic retreatment will be indicated. At our office, patients having a Coldwater root canal will remain perfectly comfortable during the entire procedure; our patients’ safety and comfort is always our number one priority.

During a root canal treatment, the pulp of the tooth is removed and the inside of the tooth and the root canal systems are thoroughly cleaned and sealed. This will hopefully keep any bacteria from reentering the tooth. Sometimes, following a root canal treatment, a tooth needs to be restored using a porcelain crown. This is totally dependent on the amount of tooth enamel that needs to be removed during the root canal therapy procedure. The sooner a root canal treatment is performed, the greater chance it has of saving the life of the tooth. We encourage you to come into our practice at the first sign of tooth pain so that we can determine what type of treatment will be needed.
